This won't work. None of the looters or arsonists care about their city.

Apparently, a lot of the ones arrested aren’t even from the city

Yeah, here in SC the Richland County Sheriff was at the initial protest, and he said the rioting and looting were not the same group, they arrived later.

R ight, contract folks. Super curious where they are getting support from. Some of our local groups up here had been getting support from nationalist groups out of Oregon. Love to be a fly on the wall.

Our governor met with the organizer of the protest in Wilmington, who seemed to be close to tears and was really apologetic, his group was peaceful, it seems that as the original group started to break up, opportunist looters filtered in and took over. Same thing happened in my town - the police cordoned off a long stretch of highway and an area in front of the government buildings and they marched and protested peacefully, ended in the mall parking lot, and started dispersing, then other groups filtered in and started wrecking the mall and fanning out into other neighborhoods. Its about a mile from me, I don’t usually keep a gun loaded, for obvious safety reasons, but I certainly have it ready now. Not that I’ve got much of anything worth stealing, but an angry mob can’t tell that from outside.

I wonder how many causes are going into this. The majority of the peaceful protests are obviously about George Floyd’s murder, but there’s clearly other groups piling on/co-opting that for their own purposes.
When the coronavirus lockdowns started, I predicted - on here, I think - that we had maybe 3 months or so before there was mass rioting and social breakdown, based on such a massive amount of the country being put out of work indefinitely . I wonder if there’s an element of that at play here, our unemployment rate is already over 20% (at least), and its pretty clear what segments of the population are the most heavily impacted so far, namely the ones who can least afford to be out of work for any amount of time.

I think it’s just a perfect storm--festering injustice, high unemployment, lack of leadership, leadership stirring shit, lockdown. We’ve reached a tipping point.

Yep, the United States is the Soviet Union in 1990, we’re on the verge of collapse - a few more months of all this, and it's probably over.

Jesus.
Just like coronavirus was never going to kill 1 million Americans this year, this is nothing like the Soviet Union in the 1990’s, and the US is nowhere near a collapse.

It won’t be 900,000-1 million this year, it will be 900,000-1 million this pandemic. The pandemic will probably last 2-3 years.
On the other stuff, wait and see. We’ve got violent insurrection in almost every city coast to coast, when government buildings start getting overrun and ransacked, that will be the next step. This is exactly how civil wars start, the USSR's collapse began with economic problems and ethnicity based rioting in cities.

Apologies if it was not you, but someone on here was saying it would be 1 million Americans this year. And no, this pandemic will not last 2-3 years. Indications are that it’s already losing potency in Italy. This is what hapoens with all viruses. They’re either deadly enough to kill lits of people and become less prevalent (ebola) or they mutate to become less deadly and stick around (like the flu).
Violent insurrection? I’ll be having breakfast with my boy who was witness to the civil war in Iraq. He’ll get a good laugh at Americams thinking this is what “violent insurrection” looks like. If Americans are terrified by teenagers looting malls, we will have a very short civil war.

They are attacking government employees and reporters, destroying government vehicles, burning down entire city blocks, announcing plans to move on to residential neighborhoods, and at least one government building has been burned down already. Someone needs to just pay someone to murder that ex cop in prison already, trials take too damn long. Guards make crap money, bet one of them would do it.

“They” represent a very small minority of the people even out protesting, and they’re mostly attacking empty things. My brother watched them turn away from an armed jewelry store owner Saturday night. They’re cowards and not prepared for an actual fight (hence them attacking reporters and not soldiers).
That ex cop has no allies. His actions have been condemned by pretty much everyone. Very few people would give a shit if he was killed.

Agreed, I would hope he faces the death penalty at trial (but, that’s mostly just used as a threat to get a guilty plea for a lesser sentence nowadays, and even if it is applied, it’s rarely carried out). Trouble is the wheels of justice move very slowly, the trial might not even start before the end of the year, and there's also a chance the prosecution screws it up and he walks somehow. I would never come right out and advocate murder, but I also wouldn't lose any sleep over the guy getting a shiv in the gut in the showers.

86% are from what I've seen. It's a weird and untrue narrative, the outside agitators one.
